OneStim News: OneStim Shatters Record for Stages Per Day | Schlumberger
February 14, 2018
OneStim completes 23 stages in 48 hours, breaking previously established records for stages for an operator in West Texas.
In April 2017, OneStim responded to a request for proposal (RFP) from an operator in West Texas. Part of the proposal included information about Technology Lifecycle Management (TLM), the Center for Reliability and Efficiency (CRE), and the Reliability Support Center (RSC) facility located in Denton, Texas. As a follow up, stakeholders attended an information session and tour of the facility. All left very impressed and OneStim was initially awarded two pads.
On the first pad—and in the first week—OneStim’s WTX10 team broke the record for stages pumped in one day by successfully placing 9 stages in a 24-hour period. On the second pad, the team broke their own record with 10 stages in 24 hours. Following this success, the operator awarded OneStim two more pads, with plans for a dedicated fleet in Q2 2018.
Record-breaking operations would continue. The WTX10 team went on to pump 12 stages in one day’s time on the third pad, followed by 11 more stages the following day. The operator’s completions manager commented, "This is basically the technical limit for a frac and service crew, and they did 23 stages in 48 hours."
The operator’s completions engineer also congratulated the team. “As everyone is aware, this is not an easy feat,” he said. “It takes communication, coordination, and teamwork from all parties to accomplish this.”
